Duntafil Antique Candle Lantern, Carriage Lamp
Wonderful mid-1800s antique carriage lantern / lamp made by Duntafil of England. The lamp has a red beveled glass lens to illuminate a red glow. The frame is designed to attach to the rear side panel of a carriage or buggy and can also be handheld with the folding top handle.
The lantern is designed to burn a candle stick for power. (We tried blowing out the candle through the heat vents, the lantern is very wind resistant).
The side bracket is design to attach to the side of a carriage and extends ½” below the base of the lantern, lantern will not sit flat on a table or surface unless sitting atop something to raise it up to clear the side bracket.
Circa, 1800s
Marked, Duntafil Patent
Measures, 4.375” wide, 3” in depth, 7 1/” tall with handle down.
Condition, AS Found, glass is solid with no cracks, glass does have scratches, exterior metal has been painted at some point.
