Antique 1900 Corkscrew, Silver-Capped Springbok Horn Handle.
Amazing find, this early 1900s Corkscrew. The corkscrew is a Walker Company design from 1900, which has a wire breaker and cap-lifter. The worm (corkscrew) is known as a bladed style with the outer edge designed to cut through the cork with ease. Above the bell is a decorative collar that covers the shaft, which attaches to the horn.
The handle is amazing, measuring 8” wide. Made from a Male Springbok and at the ends beautiful Sterling Silver caps. The worm (corkscrew) is 4 ½” long.
This is a one of a kind corkscrew, a wonderful treasure.
Circa: 1800s
Marked: Sterling, makers' marks, #4
Measures: 9½” tall, 8” wide at handle.
Condition: wonderful with light normal wear. The Antler handle is solid, with no visible damage. The bell above the corkscrew has plating loss.
