Prohibition Era Old Snifter Corkscrew, Wine Bottle Opener

$139.00

Prohibition Era Old Snifter Corkscrew
This is a very fun and collectible corkscrew. The old gentleman is holding an umbrella; his hands are formed into a bottle opener, and if you hold the base and twist his head to the right, a hidden corkscrew will pop out the backside of his trench coat. On the underside of the umbrella are the makers' mark Negbaur, N.Y., USA, Made in the USA, Patented. The figure is meant to resemble Volstead, a United States Representative from Minnesota who pushed for the passage of the Prohibition Act.
These were more of a novelty than anything; I would only have them as showpieces and not actually use them.

Circa: 1935
Marked: Negbaur, N.Y., USA, Made in the USA Patented
Measures: 5 ¾” tall
Condition: light pitting on the chrome finish.
Please see all pictures as they are part of the description.
