Vintage 1950s Hand-Painted Syroco Waiter Full Bodied Corkscrew.
Wonderful find this full-bodied Syroco Waiter corkscrew. I say full-bodied because these were also offered without the body, head, and corkscrew only. They were offered in painted and walnut-stained versions. This is a Highly collectable mid-century barware item.

History,
Made by the Syracuse Ornamental Company (Syroco) of Syracuse, New York, they consist of a composition of wood powder and thermoset resin set in a compression mold. These were believed to have been made between 1940 and 1950. The steel corkscrew was supplied by Williamson Company of Newark, New Jersey.

Marked: Syroco Wood
Measures: 8” tall, 2 ¾” square at base.
Condition: paint chips and scuffs, paint loss on the head.
