We have for sale an Antique 1880s English Cellerman’s Four Finger Pull with Button Corkscrew
This are known as a Cellerman’s or Loop handle corkscrews designed to fit four fingers in the handle, this one is made with a button just above the worm (screw) the button is designed to brake the seal of the cork by twisting it, once the button hits the cork it turns the cork loosening it in the neck of the bottle allowing for easier removal of the cork. In the 1880s one of the methods of finishing metal was to add a bronze-washed plating, this corkscrew is bronze-washed plating you can still see most of the plating throughout the handle helping us date this lovely corkscrew. One other note on this corkscrew is the worm (screw) is called a bladed screw design to cut through the cork with ease.
