We have for sale a Collection of Four Antique English Perfume Bottle Corkscrews with Bovine Bone Handles.
These are from my personal collection four beautiful perfume bottle corkscrews with bovine bone handles from the Victorian Era.
Pre-1900 all perfumes, medicines and vanity items came in a corked bottle, so this style corkscrew would have been found in your vanities areas for these smaller type bottles. The corkscrews are made of full length steel shank and the handles are attached to both sides of the shank it is made of bovine bone (cow) which was very common in the Victorian era.
The bone turns from white to different shades of yellow from the oils in your hands the more they were used the yellower the handle tone becomes. You may have noticed the largest corkscrew has a fluted screw, a groove cut alone the back side of the screw which allows air to enter the bottle once the screw has pierced the cork air rushes into the bottle releasing pressure and making it much easier to pull out the cork.

Era; 1880-90s
Measures; These measure from the smallest at 3 ¾” to the largest 5 ½” long
Condition; very good for age, some have tarnish shown on finish please zoom into all pictures.
