History;
Gesso work refers to the decorative floral embellishment that is applied to frames, wicker pieces, and furniture. The term Gesso is interchangeable with Barbola, a substitute for hand-carved wood. It's a plaster like powder with added ingredients along with water that's mixed into a paste then poured into a mold. When dry it's painted and glued to the object, then varnished.
