Antique Corkscrew, 19th Century Henshall Style Corkscrew, Stag Horn Handle and Button Easer, Wine Opener

Sorry, this item has sold.

Thank you for viewing our Store,

We have for sale an Antique 19th Century Henshall Style Corkscrew with Stag Antler Handle and button easer.
Lovely example of a mid to late 1800s corkscrew with ornate shank with button easer and stag horn antler handle. The handle is made from a section of an English Stag Horn Deer. The nickel-plated shank has an ornate design followed by a 1.25” button easer and wire helix worm (corkscrew). The button easer was an addition to corkscrews in the 1800s as the worm is inserted into the cork and the button touches the cork it spins the cork breaking it free from the bottle and which allows the cork to pull from the bottle much easier. (this may not work on some of today’s bottles some winery’s insert the cork deeply into the bottle)

Circa; 1850-1890s
Measures; 6” long, 4” wide at handle
Marked; none
Condition; Vintage with some plating lose on shank, antler handle is a little lose on shank but still very functional, nice shape wire helix.
