We have for sale a Vintage 1925 British Brass Dartmoor Pixie Corkscrew
Wonderful example of a British brass figural corkscrew marked with the British registration number on the backside, Rd 711001 registered in 1925.
Though registered in 1925 the original design would have had a simpler wire worm (corkscrew) this has a bladed worm which dates it to the mid to later 1930s

Condition; Is very good for age, bladed worm is shape and has a slight bend.
Measures; 5.25” long, 2.5” wide at the handle

HISTORY:
There are a number of creatures particular to Cornish folklore, although their cousins can be found elsewhere in Cornwall under different names and guise. One of these strains is the Piskie also known as a Pixie in other Western Countries.
The Piskie is a general name for a fairy race or tribe in Cornwall. In appearance they look like old men with wrinkled faces and are small in stature with red hair. They dress in the colors of the earth especially green, using natural materials such as moss, grass and lichen.
