We have for sale an Antique 1875 Eagle Hand Crank Fluting Machine
Wonderful Piece of history, this is a Fluting Machine or also called a Ruffler used to put pleating or French fluting in freshly laundered clothing. This size Fluting Machine was designed for home use or travel and made by the American Machine Co of Philadelphia PA.
Made of cast iron with corrugated brass fluting rollers with wood crank handle, this is a table top model. There is a lever in the front of the machine which allows you to raise and lower the upper roller to insert or remove the garment from the machine.
The machine is marked in raised lettering EAGLE Pat. Nov, 2. 1875, it is all original with remnants of the hand painted scrollwork and pinstriping in yellow, red and gold.
This style fluting iron is designed to hold hot steel rods inside the brass rollers, the rod would heat the rollers for ironing, (heating irons not included).
We have cleaned the machine and oiled the surface to preserve the cast iron.

Measures, 11 ½” wide with handle, 4 ¾” depth, 5” high.
Condition, good use condition with paint lose and surface rust
