Thank you for viewing our Store,
We have for sale an Antique 1908 Conley Model XV, Long Focus Revolving Back Camera.

Every now and then we run across a gem. This is a gem, this stunningly beautiful camera is a Conley Long Focus Revolving Back, Model XV Camera with a Conley Safety triple-convertible lens combination, 5 x 7 Dry-Plates, fabric viewer light cover and leather carry case.
The camera is constructed of solid Honduras mahogany wood, with dovetailed, rounded corners with hand rubbed finish, and covered in genuine heavy bear grain black leather. The bellows are burgundy stained leather, gossamer lined and extra-long. All metal parts were made of brass with nickel plating and highly polished.
This camera was designed for landscape and portraits requiring a long focal length. The revolving back allows you to convert your photo from a 5 x 7 to a 7 x 5.

*The Safety shutter lens was an upgrade from the standard Automatic lens. The shutter must be cocked with the lever on the lower right before it can fire. This is a triple-convertible lens combination. The front and rear elements can be used together or singly to achieve three different focal lengths. Equipped with a finger and pneumatic release.

**The camera has a patent date 1907 on the front slide mechanism, this is not the camera patent date but the locking slide mechanism patent date. The camera is a 1908.

***Condition, the Camera is in wonderful condition, the issue I find is the View Finder mirror has lost its silvering. The pneumatic release hand bulb has dried and is not flexible. The Case is as shown, solid with wear on lid, leather on lid is fragile. Dry-Plates are good one still has a negative enclosed (bonus).

History,
The Conley Camera Company of Rochester, Minnesota, selling their products mainly through the Sears & Reobuck Company catalog, Conley made cameras and photographic accessories from 1899 to 1927. Some of Conley’s features were downright ingenious, and their hand-crafted mahogany, cherry, and nickel-plated cameras were items of beauty.

Circa, 1908
Dimension, camera- 8 ¾” x 4” x 9” tall. case 16” x 4 ¾” x 9 ½” tall.
