We have for sale a Gifford Wood Co. Ice Saw 36"
Wonderful piece of American History this turn of the century 1900 Ice Saw. Ice harvesting was a huge industry before the days of refrigeration, people used large chunks of ice to cool food and beverages for transport and home use. This saw is made of steel with an iron handle the saw teeth are ¾” long and very sharp. The saw was painted black at some point which most likely helped preserve the metal.

History,
In 1835, William T. Wood and Co. was founded with the purpose of manufacturing a wide range of ice harvesting tools. William T. Wood and Co. In 1905 the company was renamed the Gifford-Wood Co. The company was founded in a suburb of Boston and quickly grew to prominence. They manufactured everything from ice axes, to augers, to saws, any tool need for harvesting Ice.
