Jack Daniels Whiskey Jug, Lem Motlow Whiskey Collectible

Jack Daniels Whiskey Jug, Lem Motlow Whiskey Collectible.
Wonderful and extremely rare find this Whiskey Jug from the Lem Motlow (Jack Daniels) Company of Lynchburg Tennessee. The jug reads “All Goods Worth Price Charged” Lem Motlow of Lynchburg Tenn.
Lem Motlow inherited the Jack Daniels Company from his uncle Jack Daniels in 1907, the slogan on the crock was just letting you know the cost of the content was worth every drop. The jugs started being produced in the 1910s right before Prohibition was set to law in America in 1919. The jug itself was made in the USA and is marked on the bottom USA. Also has a sticker on the bottom (Jack Daniel Distillery) The handle is a wire bail with wood handle. Overall condition excellent. We are showing a photo of old Jack Danial jugs and bottles this is only to show this style jug is in the photo (it is not included).

Lem Motlow (1869-1947) was said to have had a head for numbers, and originally worked as a bookkeeper for his uncle's company. In 1907, faced with failing health, Jack Daniels gave the distillery to Motlow and another nephew. Motlow soon bought out the nephew, but his whiskey production in Lynchburg was short lived. In the 1919, Tennessee passed a statewide prohibition law. But as we know, prohibition was repealed, and Jack Daniels whiskey lives on.

There are a couple websites on the internet that show this jug and tell the whole store of Lem Motlow and Lynchburg Tennessee.
