We have for sale an Antique Arcade Imperial Coffee Grinder
Wonderful Antique Coffee Bean Grinder made by the Arcade Manufacturing Co. of Freeport, ILL. This is the Imperial Mill model #147, the base is made of wood (believe its maple) with dovetail corner construction with a pull-out catch drawer, the drawer has a metal pushpin style knob. The upper section is made of cast iron with pivoting hopper door, the grinder can be adjustable to your bean grind, fine to coarse by twisting the metal knob and wingnut at the top of the grinder. The grinder crank handle is also made of cast iron with a matching hardwood knob. The color of the wood is a rich brown patina. The color of the cast iron was originally gold painted some of the original color still shows.
We have taken the grinder apart to clean all the internal parts and have oiled the moving parts with food safe oil. It is ready to use or be a wonderful display piece. At some point the grinder has had a coat of varnish on the outside of the wood.
The label on the front of grinder is very worn and has the patent date of September 25th, 1886, and March 15th, 1889.
History,
Founded in 1885, Arcade Manufacturing Co. made small cast iron machinery for home use, especially coffee grinders. They made coffee grinders from their inception until the 1930s. In 1946, Arcade was purchased by Rockwell Manufacturing Co.

Measurements, 10 ½” tall, base is 7” square.
Condition, vintage and ready to use. Drawer front has a couple chips at the corners, although drawer is still very solid and secure.
