1920s Italian Advertising Corkscrew, San Pellegrino, Wine Bottle Opener

We have for sale a Vintage Italian Advertising Corkscrew
Wonderful find this one-lever or waiters style advertising corkscrew made by Paul A. Henckels of Solingen Germany, not to be mistaken for J.A. Henckels (Johann Abraham Henckels) of Solingen Germany. The corkscrew is made of steel with brass overlay case on both sides. The corkscrew is known as a bladed worm design which is sharp on the outer edge allowing it to cut through the cork with ease.

The corkscrew has advertising on both sides of the case, written in Italian.

The company S. Pellegrino is an Italian natural mineral water brand started in 1899, owned by the company San Pellegrino and recently purchased by the conglomerate which is part of Swiss company Nestlé in 1997. S. Pellegrino mineral water has been produced for over 620 years.

Back to the corkscrew, WHY a corkscrew for drinking water?
The bottle cap was not invented until 1892 by the Crown Cork Co. Baltimore. And not widely used till up into the early 20th century. Before the cap was introduced most all bottles had corks including Medicines, Perfumes and Alcohol and yes even bottled water.

Marked, unmarked.
Condition, vintage with some wear on case and pitting on opener area.
