We have for sale an Antique 1920s Remington Portable Typewriter
Wonderful machine this manual typewriter from the early 1920s, manufactured by the Remington Company. This is known as a Remington / Standard #1 Portable Typewriter.
We are selling this machine as found, minus some dust.
Overall condition is good, it has some sticky keys and needs a good cleaning, we did add a small amount of oil just to get things moving again. Cast shows some external wear. We did find a small screw below the keys that will be sent with. We found this beautiful machine in southern Minnesota.
History,
Yes, Remington the same manufacturer of firearms also made some of the very first mass produced typewriters. Founded in 1816 by Eliphalet Remington the company started manufacturing typewriters in the 1870s, they sold its typewriter business to the Standard Typewriter Manufacturing Company in 1886. Standard eventually changed their company name to Remington Typewriter Company in 1902.
