Antique 1900, Walter Baker Chocolate Wood Shipping Crate.
Wonderful find this early 1900s wood shipping crate for the Walter Baker Company of Dorchester Mass. The Walter Baker Company was the first chocolate company in America founded in 1780.
The crate was used for transporting chocolate 12, 1-pound packages. The box is constructed of wood with dovetail corners (no lid)
The box has writing on all four sides as shown in pictures.
This will make a wonderful addition to your kitchen décor.

The Baker Chocolate Company was founded in 1780, headquartered in Dorchester, MASS. It was the first company to produce chocolate in the country. Following the deaths of its founders and businessmen, the company was sold to the Forbes Syndicate in 1896, which carried on the business until it was sold to Postum Cereal in 1927.
