1924 Art Deco, Martini Shaker, Apollo Silver
Wonderful find this 1924 Art Deco, Apollo Silver Martini Shaker made by the Bernard Rice’s & Sons Inc. of New York.
The shaker is marked on the base (Apollo Bernard Rice’s & Sons Inc.) and marked on the base of the lid with the Patent Date May 13, 1924.
The Shaker is the Georgic design 5125, made of E.P.N.S. Electroplated Nickel Silver. The lid, base and center of the shaker have a stunning braided band, the inside of the lid and spout cap are lined with cork.
Overall condition is wonderful with minor scuffs and scratches and one tiny ding in the outer top portion of the lid as shown in picture.
History,
The origins of the company date back to Ignatius Rice who in 1867 formed the company. In 1901 Apollo silver Co was a registered trade name owned by the Rice brothers. A variety of trade names was used on Bernard Rice's Sons silverware: L'AIGLON, LORALINE, BEAUXARDT, ETCHARDT, DUTCHARDT, SHADOW ARDT, PATRICIA, APOLLO STUDIO, B.R.S.CO, SKY SCRAPER, MARION PEWTER and, on sterling, APOLLO STERLING. The company went out of business June 1950.
