Antique Chilean Huaso Spur
Wonderful find this single 19th century Huaso Spur made from forged steel and decorated in inlayed silver. The spur has a magnificent 4 ½” round rowel with 42 long spikes, the overall length of the spur is 9” long. Just a stunning piece of history.
This is an original 1800s spur not a remake from the 2000s, when found it still had dirt imbedded in the decorative silver from actually being used.

History,
Huaso, a Chilean horseman who works to round up cattle grazing over large areas. The idea of the Huaso is like the American cowboy or the Gaucho in Argentina, and the figure of the Huaso on horseback dressed in a traditional poncho and hat is an important part of Chilean folklore.

Circa, 1800s
Measures, 4” wide, 9” long, weighs 1.8 pounds.
Condition, as shown with light rust in areas and discoloration, still needs some more cleaning.
Please see all pictures as they are part of the description.
