We have for sale an Antique Mercantile Crescent String / Twine Holder
Wonderful find this beautiful 1900 String Holder made by the Crescent Foundry, St. Louis Mo.
You would have found these in General stores, Butcher shops and other Mercantile stores across the country in the 1800s and early 1900s.
Holds a spool of cone string or twine, the tapered cone at the base allowed different sized cones to be used on this holder.
The holder is made of cast iron and has a floral design the runs up the stem and marked with “Crescent Pat’d Applied” the base has two indents these are for screwing the holder down to your workspace.

Circa, 1901
Measures, 12” tall, 6½” depth
Condition, wonderful condition no cracks or chips, string is old and dirty.
