Antique Handmade Woodworking Mortise Gauge’s
Wonderful find this collection of Seven Mortise Gauge’s from the mid-1800s all handmade and in wonderful condition. Each has its own unique design of securing the fence to the stem of the gauge.
This are all handmade and most likely by the craftsman who used them, they are all marked with the owner’s name or initials. Some may have been old manufacturers names.
A collection worthy of owning for any craftsman.

A mortise gauge or mortice gauge is a woodworking tool used by a carpenter or joiner to scribe mortise and tenon joints on wood prior to cutting. Mortise gauges are commonly made of hardwood with brass fittings. Wikipedia

Measures, 7 ¼” to 12” in length.
Condition, as found, very nice used condition.
