Antique Pair of North and Judd Western Cowboy Spurs
Wonderful pair of western spurs made by North and Judd of New Britain, Connecticut. The spurs are marked with the very recognizable Anchor Trademark on top of the shank and the Sun and Moon design on the outer side of the bands. They are a forged steel spur with a nickel plating and have a large 1¾” - 10-point rowel, and a 1¾” shank, the heal band / yoke has about a 3” spread, spurs also equipped with heal chains. The leather straps are also made and marked with the North and Judd Anchor on the backside of the buckle.

For those of you that really know your spurs you may have thought these were August Buermann spurs at first glance, Almost Correct. North and Judd Company purchased the August Buermann Company in 1914 and continued to manufacture the Buermann designs with one small change, the logo change from a star to an anchor.

History,
August Buermann Manufacturing Co (1866-1926). August Buermann had a son, August Jr, who succeeded him in running the business when he retired in 1896. August Jr sold the company in 1926 the Buermann name and designs were purchased by North and Judd, a large established hardware company. The infamous Star Brand of the Buermann boot spur was no more and was replaced by the North and Judd anchor mark.

Condition, as shown with light scuffs and finish loss, the leather straps are very worn, and one is missing the buckle side of the strap.
