1934 French Telephone, Thomson-Houston Model 1910 Telephone
Wonderful find this French Telephone made by Thomson-Houston of Paris France. This is a crank telephone, you would have cranked the handle which would have connected you to the operator, you would have told the operator your parties' number and they would connect the lines.
This is known as a companion telephone; it has an extra receiver (earpiece) so that a second person can listen in on a conversation (way before speaker phones).
These telephones are rare and seldom found in the United States. Most are in collections, and Museums. It is all original and seems to have all its internal parts and original cables. We have thoroughly and carefully cleaned the exterior of the phone but have not touched the interior parts.
The phone is made up of a mahogany wood case with nickel-plated brass hardware and handle sets. The black earpieces and handle are made of Bakelite and the brown crank handle is Bakelite also. The original finish has long worn off the wood, we have applied a light coat of oil to seal and help the wood from drying out.
Marked with manufacture date 4/1/1934.
History,
Thomson-Houston Electric Company founded by Elihu Thomson and Edwin Houston in 1879. In 1892, the Thomson-Houston Electric Company merged with its rival, the Edison General Electric Company, to form General Electric (GE). That same year, the company formed an overseas subsidiary, named Thomson Houston International, based in France. During 1893, Compagnie Française Thomson-Houston (CFTH) was established as a partner to GE. (Information from Wikipedia)

Measures, overall height 9½” wood case 7” x 7” at base.
Condition, cleaned and ready for display, has some plating loss and dulling on nickel plate, a wood chip on back left side of lid, as shown in pictures.
