1940s Adlake Kero Railroad Lantern, GM&O.RR, Railroad lantern (red globe)
Wonderful Red Globe Railroad Lantern made by the Adams & Westlake (Adlake) Company of Chicago ILL. The lantern was made for the Gulf, Mobile and Ohio Railroad.
The lantern is known as a short globe Adlake Kero lantern it has a Adlake 300 burner.
The overall condition of this lantern is wonderful and seems to have been hardly used, burner still has the wick.

History,
The GM&O Railroad was in operation from 1938 till 1972 it was purchased by the Illinois Central Railroad and dissolved the GM&O Railroad.
From 1952 to 1972 the headquarters of the G.M. & O. were in Mobile, Alabama.
The GM&O Railroad was the first "large" railroad in the United States to replace all its steam locomotives with diesels.

Measures, 9½” tall with handle down, 6 ¼” diameter at base.
Condition, very light wear some surface rust spots on base of wire frame, globe is in great condition.
