Antique 1915 Red Wing Union Stoneware Ten Gallon Crock 6-inch Red Wing Logo
Wonderful early version Red Wing Crock made by the Red Wing Union Stoneware Co. of Red Wing Minnesota. This is known as a 10-gallon Red Wing with 6” Wing and a number 7 Oval.

History,
Red Wing / Union Pottery introduced the Red Wing Logo around 1906, it was first issued at 6-inches wide, then reduced to 4-inches, and then to the more common 2-inch logo.
The Blue Oval Logo at the base tells a more accurate timeline on when the crock was produced. This is the #7 design of the oval which was used approximately between 1915 and 1930.
With the combination of the 6-inch wing and the #7 logo, this crock dates approximately 1915.
This crock is in wonderful condition with no chips or cracks, does has the normal manufacturing blemishes and some fun bubbles which were formed from air trapped in the clay and when heated the air expanded causing the bubbles in the finish.

Measurements, 16¼” tall, 15½” diameter at top rim, weighs 40 pounds.
Condition, very nice for age, has a couple hairline cracks and a couple chips on bottom edge (shown in pictures). Normal manufacturing blemishes.
