Victorian Era Miniature Corkscrew Bow Style Perfume & Medicine Bottle Corkscrew

$49.00

Victorian Era Miniature Corkscrew Bow Style Perfume & Medicine Bottle Corkscrew
Wonderful Victorian Period miniature corkscrew. This is a real fully functional corkscrew designed to remove corks from perfume & medicine bottles in the Victorian Period known as a Bow corkscrew. Made of steel with a facited design on the bow / handle and the worm (corkscrew) is known as a fluted worm (it is designed with a groove cut into the backside of the worm which allows air to enter the bottle releasing the vacuum hold on the cork making it easier to pull out) the worm folds out and the loop, which becomes a finger pull.
You would have most commonly found these attached to a Chatelaine which the household management and domestic servants and nannies would have had for opening perfumes, medicines and household items with small corks.

Circa, 1850-1900
Measures, 2” long closed, 3½” long open, 1"wide at handle.
Condition, very good for age, strong spring.
