Antique 5-Gallon York Pottery Butter Churn, Pfaltzgraff Stoneware
This is truly an amazing find this 5-Gallon Butter Churn made by the Pfaltzgraff Pottery Company of Foustown Township of Manchester,
York County, Pennsylvania.
It’s not very often you run across such a beautiful piece of York Pottery that isn’t all chipped up and cracked.
Standing at over 16” tall and weighing nearly 23 pounds this is a true collector’s piece.
The crock is nearly flawless, including its wood grip wire bail handles.
Having only the normal manufacturing blemishes and found without the lid.

The first piece of pottery was produced by a Susquehanna-Pfaltzgraff forebear in the early 1800s. The famous pottery company was founded in 1811 by George Falsgraff, but a second George Falsgraff arrived in York with his wife, Helwig, in 1833. It is from George and Helwig Falsgraff that the Pfaltzgraff line has descended and passed down its successful business. The business became official in 1889 when George and Henry started a partnership that would become The Pfaltzgraff Co. The first factory was built in 1895.
