Dietz Victor Lantern with Fitzall Red Globe
Wonderful antique red globe lantern made by the Dietz Company, New York, U.S.A. This lantern dates between 1915-1931, known as a square tube hot blast lantern and featuring the H1 (Hocking Glass) Fitzall red glass globe. Glass globe has a patent date of 3-10-1914.
The red globe lanterns would have been used by several different businesses, railroads, construction companies, traffic control and so on.
History,
The "Victor" was the most popular square tube hot blast lantern and Dietz was the most popular U.S. lantern manufacturer from the 1880's through 1956. The Globe on this lantern is also special, originally named the Fitall globe it was discontinued in 1915 and renamed the FITZALL. The New York USA stamping indicates this lantern was at the very latest manufactured in 1931 as this was the last date for manufacture in New York.

Measures, 7¼” wide, 13¾” tall.
Condition, red globe is very good no cracks or chips, frame is good believe to have been repainted at some point.
