Antique 1890s, Fort Dodge Stoneware Company, 2 Gallon Crock
Two-gallon stoneware crock made by the Fort Dodge Stoneware Company and marked on the side Fort Dodge Stoneware Co. Fort Dodge, Iowa. The marking of the name is pressed into the clay before it was fired.
Fort Dodge Stoneware Company was only in business for a few short years and was purchased by the Western Stoneware Co. in 1906.
NOTE; the light-colored spot on inside of rim is Not a chip, it is a fingerprint from the glazer same as the finger swipes across the bottom of the crock.

The Fort Dodge Stoneware Company of Fort Dodge, Iowa was formed in 1892 and was in operation until 1905 when it was sold to the Western Stoneware Co. it was soon to become the seventh plant of the Western Stoneware Co. in 1906. Western Pottery was made in seven locations, 2 in Monmouth Illinois, 2 in Macomb Illinois, White Hall Illinois, Clinton Missouri and Fort Dodge, Iowa.

Measurements, 10” tall, 9¼” diameter at top rim, weighs 4.2-pounds.
Condition, very good with no cracks or chips. Has normal manufacturing blemishes.
