Antique 1880s Red Wing Pottery Three Gallon Crock with Blue Colbalt Rib Cage Pattern
Stunning piece of American pottery made by The Red Wing Stoneware company of Red Wing Minnesota. This lovely crock is known as the 3-gallon Cobalt blue (Rib Cage) design, which dates to between 1880s and 1896. Made with rich tan salt glaze and a beautiful hand drawn cobalt blue rib cage design.
Sometime around 1896, the tan salt glaze was replaced with a creamy colored zinc glaze and the hand drawn cobalt designs were replaced with stamped designs.
This crock is in amazing condition with the normal manufacturing blemishes and one tiny tiny chip at the top inner edge (shown in pictures).
Circa, 1880-1896
Marked, Rib Cage design.
Measurements, 10½” tall, 10¼” diameter at top rim, weighs 12.2-pounds.
