Antique 1890 Singer Puzzle Box with Singer Attachments, #3 V.S. Treadle Sewing Machine.
The workmanship is extraordinary for this solid oak box with dovetail joints. The velveteen lined box has interior latches to secure each attachment. This particular box is designated as Style #3 for the Singer vibrating shuttle treadle machine. Box is stamped with a patent date of February 19, 1889. Please see all pictures as they are part of the description.

The patent was applied for in 1888 by John M Griest (he spelled his name that way before he began the Greist Manufacturing Company). The patent for a ‘folding box’ was issued in 1889 to the Singer Manufacturing Co.
