Antique 1866 Geneva Hand Fluting Iron, Hand Pleating Iron.
Wonderful find this hand operated clothes flutter made by Geneva of Geneva ILL.
This is a hand operated flutter for applying pleats to clothing, cuffs and collars. It is made of cast iron base with a brass pleating plate and the hand roller is made of cast aluminum with a cast iron handle.
The base with brass pleating plate is marked on the bottom HEAT THIS – PAT’D 1866. This would have been placed on the wood stove and heated, then the roller would have been placed on the hot brass plate, transferring the heat to the aluminum roller. The heating plate has square hole at one end, this is for using your stove plate handle to pick up when hot.
Overall condition is very good, we have cleaned and oiled the metal, brass has some deep tarnish, although normal for a tool being 150 years old.

Circa, 1860-70s
Marked, Geneva ILL.
Measures, base 5¾” x 3½”, roller 4” x 3¼” overall height 4½”.
Condition, very nice and clean condition.
Please see all photos as they are part of the description.
