Burke & James Ingento #6 Darkroom kerosene Lantern
Just a wonderful piece of photography history, the Ingento #6 dark room lantern sold by the Burke & James Company 240-258 E. Ontario St, Chicago, Ill.
Burke & James started the Ingento line of products in 1910. The lantern was made by the R.E. Dietz Company of Brooklyn, New York for Burke & James.
This is a kerosene burning lantern with two removable glass panels 1-red, 1- yellow.
Early darkroom lighting was usually yellow or orange, in the dry-plate era and sensitive to a wider spectrum red lighting was used when developing negatives.
This is a wonderful these lanterns are almost never found with the glass panels.
Overall condition is good, it is all original including the burgundy paint and glass panels and still has the wick in the burner. The lantern is very clean and has no kerosene smell.
