Antique 1871, Brass Picnic Style Corkscrews made by Coney & Co.
Wonderful find, this pair of English brass picnic corkscrews.
The Picnic Style Corkscrew has been around since the mid-1700s, and some forms are still made today.
These are not just any picnic style corkscrews these are said to be first Registration Trademarked design of a picnic style corkscrew. Registration by Messrs Coney & Co, Birmingham England (Reg. No. 25886), December 7, 1871.
Made of brass with a steel wire helix (corkscrew). These are both marked with the Diamond Registration mark at the threaded end of the sheath.
Not many examples exist of this corkscrew and the ones that do are tucked away in collections, and finding a pair is seldom heard of.
Circa, 1871+
Marked, Coney & Co. English Registration Mark. At threaded end of sheath.
Measures, 3-3/8” long.
Condition, nice for age.
