Antique Fisher Scientific Sling Psychrometer, Humidity Gauge
Fun antique instrument to measure the atmospheric humidity. Made by Fisher Scientific of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
Brass case with slide out sling, the glass thermometers are mounted on an aluminum backer attached to a wood swivel handle.
Has two 9” long, matched thermometers -20°F to +120°F on an aluminum back, with a hardwood swivel-type handle. No wick furnished.
Purpose,
A sling psychrometer is a hygrometer that can be rotated in the air to make a wet bulb attain a constant value.
It is used to determine the atmospheric humidity in a given area.
Circa, 1920s
Measures, 14¼” in case.
Condition, untested. The bands that held the thermometers in place were replaced with wire.
