1920s Railway Post Office Candle Lamps with Hanging Brackets

Antique 1920s Railway Post Office (RPO) Candle Lamps with Hanging Brackets.
Extraordinary find, this is a pair of Brass RPO (Railway Post Office) Candle Lamps.
RPO was a train car exclusively used by the Post Office for carrying mail and sorting mail. The Post Office would not allow kerosine or oil lamps to be used in the RPO rail cars, but the Post Office would allow candlelight to be used for emergency backup lighting. Each RPO Car would carry a dozen or so Candle Lamps, the brackets would be positioned on the walls throughout the car, and when needed the lamps would be hung. The candles are spring loaded, as the candle burns away the internal spring pushes the candle upward.
The RPO Candle Lamps were originally patented in 1907 by the Post Office, The Safety Co. of New York made this pair.
Overall condition, these are all original and include the original hanging brackets (The hanging brackets are usually missing) and the original Pyrex glass chimneys, and we believe these are the original candles. Brass has dings and dents from use and age, the hanging brackets are not exactly the same (may have been made at different times).
