1890s Singer Puzzle Box, Treadle Sewing Machine Attachments
Beautiful Singer puzzle box with Singer attachments and thumb indent box. The workmanship is extraordinary for this oak velveteen lined box with interior latches so each attachment could be secured. This box is designated as Style #11 for the Singer Model 11 for VS treadle machine. Has most of the attachments, although some are missing as usual. This set includes a special tool not often seen, a universal needle threader (can thread from both directions), Simanco part #121632.

History,
The patent was applied for in 1888 by John M Griest (he spelled his name that way before he began the Greist Manufacturing Company). The patent for a ‘folding box’ was issued in 1889 to the Singer Manufacturing Co.
Circa, 1890s
Measures, 3½” square, 6½” long.
Marked, Patented February 19, 1889.
Condition, Very clean, some missing parts.
