Antique Minnesota Stoneware 5-quart Jug, 1883 - 1895
Wonderful and rare find, this Jug from the Minnesota Stoneware Co., made by the Minnesota Stoneware Company of Red Wing Minnesota. We call this a one-gallon jug although it holds 5 quarts. The glaze is a rich chocolate brown, and the condition is exceptionally good with no cracks or chips, it does have a couple glazing flaws which is very typical. This is an early Minnesota Stoneware crock they only marked the bottoms in early production period.
History,
The Minnesota Stoneware Company was in production from 1883-1895. It is one of the companies that merged to form Red Wing Pottery of Red Wing Minnesota.
Circa, 1880s.
Measures, 8½” tall, 8” diameter.
