1902 Kodak No. 3A Folding Hawk-Eye Model 4 Camera Red Bellows with case
Wonderful find this 1902 version of the Kodak Hawk-Eye Model 4 Camera.
We had to step back a few years on this model. In 1899 Eastman Kodak acquired a small Rochester New York Camera Co. The Blair Camera Company. This camera was a combination of both the Eastman Kodak Co. and the Blair Camera Co.
This camera is marked (3-AF.H.E. Eastman Kodak successor to Blair Camera Co.) on the inside of the back panel. It is marked (No. 3A Folding Hawk-Eye Model 4) under the lens.
History,
The Blair Camera Company was acquired by Eastman Kodak in 1899 but continued to produce cameras under its own name for a number of years. By 1907, the Eastman name began to appear on Blair products as a successor to Blair. (Article from, Pacific Rim Camera).
Circa, 1902+
Measures, 10” x 5" x 2” thickness closed. 8” depth when open.
Condition is good for age, camera missing a section of the leather covering, small tear in bellows. Case is heavily worn. Needs a good cleaning.
