Antique RARE 1917 Red Wing, Union Stoneware Company 4-Gallon Crock and Lid, 4” Red Wing Logo
Wonderful Crock and the perfect size for display in your kitchen or home.
It is an original Red Wing churn made by the Union Stoneware Company of Red Wing Minnesota. The crock is labeled with a cobalt blue number 4 and cobalt blue oval at the base, this designed oval was only used for a short period of time in 1917. Also has the lovely Red Wing stamp in the middle, this is known as the 4-inch Red Wing logo.

The Red Wing Lids are designed with a flower pattern and the crock size number, you will notice the glazing on the lids is only on the center and the outer edge, and no glazing on about a 1" ring in the center (depending on crock size).

*The Lid, wonderful condition, no chips chip or cracks as shown in pictures, and normal manufacturing blemishes, Lid top has aging patina on top surface as shown.
*The Crock, wonderful, has a couple chips at the base (shown in pictures), and normal manufacturing blemishes,

History,
Red Wing / Union Pottery introduced the Red Wing Logo around 1906, it was first issued at 6-inches wide, then reduced to 4-inches wide, and then to the more common 2-inch-wide logo.
The Blue Oval Logo at the base tells a more accurate timeline on when the crock was produced.

Measurements, 13½” tall with lid, 12¼” diameter at top rim, weighs 23 pounds.
