Antique Original Hanging Beehive String Holder
Amazing find this all original 1800s Cast Iron hanging Beehive string holder
With original hanger. The beehive design has been reproduced over the years although none holds up to the original. Made of a cast iron hive shaped holder with a removable steel top section which very easily twists to unlock and remove, the hanger screws into the removable steel top section and has an inner square nut and an outer wingnut to secure the hanger in place. The holder can hold up to a 3½” diameter ball of twine or string which fed through a hole at the bottom of the hive. Show with heavy cord string.
Circa, 1880-1900
Measures, 6½” wide, 6½” tall with hanger.
Condition, paint is worn and faded, paint chips in areas.
