Antique 1877 Holborn Style Champagne Screw, Champagne Tap
Stunning, 1877 version of a Holborn Type Champagne screw, made in England. A Holborn champagne screw with a rosewood handle & Nichel-plated brass finger pull & tap mechanism.
From days gone by the Champagne Tap is designed to save the carbonation in the bottle of Champagne and Soda’s.
Holborn Champagne Screw,
The Holborn Champagne Screw which is the 1877 British Registered Design No. 307,655 of Edwin Wolverson.
To use simply screw the hollow Archimedean worm through the cork allowing the port hole at the base of the worm to clear the bottom-side of the cork. Invert the bottle and turn the valve handle to pour the champagne.
Circa: 1880s.
Marked: none
Measures: 6½” long, 3¾” wide at handle.
Condition: clean with light metal finish wear, damage to spout tip.
