Antique Mercantile Countertop Coffee Grinder
Amazing find, this heavy-duty steel general mercantile countertop Coffee Grinder. This was a barn find in Montana. We have had 100s of antique coffee grinders over the years and this must be the most robust one we have ever seen. It’s your typical box grinder with a funnel feed hopper although it is made of heavy gauge steel and weighs nearly 10 pounds. It was meant to last a lifetime. It was most likely made during latter part of the American Industrial Revolution.
The grinder is fully adjustable so you can get the perfect grind for that perfect cup of coffee
We found a card attached to the base of the grinder, with the name Ray Domer on it. Ray Domer owned a coffee shop in Helena’s historic Last Chance Gulch.
Circa, 1800s
Marked, none
Measures, 6¾” x 6½” square at base. 9” tall, Weighs 9.5 pounds
Condition, grinds well, and grinder adjusts, exterior has surface rust.
