Antique French Peugeot Spice Grinder, Pepper Corn Grinder
Wonderful find, this mid-1800s spice grinder made by Peugeot Freres.
Yes, Peugeot Freres the same company that would make Peugeot Automobiles. The company started a steel foundry in 1810, and in 1840s started manufacturing products from coffee grinders to bicycles and in 1896 automobiles.
The grinder is a miniature version of their box coffee grinder. We show a picture of a standard size box coffee grinder next to the spice grinder, to show the actual size. Coffee grinder not included in sale.
Circa: 1860s
Marked: Peugeot Freres.
Measures: 3¼” square at base, 5” tall top of handle.
Condition: as found, metal has surface rust throughout.
