Antique Singer Puzzle Box, Treadle Attachment Set
Wonderful find, this original 1889 design of Singer’s Puzzle Box with side hook latch. We believe this is box style number 3 attachments.
History,
The patent was applied for in 1888 by John M Griest (he spelled his name that way before he began the Greist Manufacturing Company). The patent for a ‘folding box’ was issued in 1889 to the Singer Manufacturing Co.
Circa: 1889+
Marked: Patented February 19, 1889.
Measures: 3½” square, 6½” long.
Condition: very clean attachments, metal box has scuffs, felt is worn.
