Antique E Esdaile & Sons, Ships Compass Binnacle
Wonderful find, this Nautical Ships Compass Binnacle, which was manufactured by E Esdaile & Sons of Sydney, NSW. (New South Wales).
Made of brass with a floating compass, at the side of the binnacle is a box which houses a kerosene lantern, which reflects through a glass window into the compass chamber.
The compass is marked, E. Esdaile & Sons, Sydney, NSW. Compass is very accurate. Overall condition is very good for the age, brass housing has the normal light dings and scuffs, glass is solid and has some etching from age. The lantern box is missing the chimney cover.
