Antique 1901 Hotchkiss No.1 Spiral Coil Feed Stapler
Wonderful find, this 1901 Hotchkiss No.1 Spiral Coil Feed Stapler. Made by the Hotchkiss Company of Norwalk, Connecticut.
E.H. Hotchkiss Company invented the Hotchkiss stapler around 1895. It was released in 1901 after Hotchkiss gained control of the company.
This stapler was sold by the National Cash Register Company of Dayton, Ohio, and labeled on the cap of the striking hammer.
The Stampler is made of cast iron with a nickel finish and a steel spring coil.
The Hotchkiss Company manufactured three different primary versions of Hotchkiss No. 1, and each version came in two styles: with a staple-holding spiral coil (aka - tail) and without.
Circa: 1901
Measures: 6½” long, 43/4” tall, 2” wide.
Condition: untested, some finish loss, and two rubber cushion feet are damaged. Has been lightly cleaned and could use a deep cleaning. No Staples included.
