Antique 1930s Griswold American #8 Cast Iron Waffle Iron with Low Base.
Cast iron, stove top Waffle Iron is in wonderful condition. The Griswold Manufacturing Company of Erie, PA, USA, made this Waffle Iron. The logo on this waffle iron is called a double-ring small block logo, processed in the late 1930s. Both sides of the Iron and the base are marked with the Griswold Name and model numbers, irons 885, and base 975. These are a matching set of irons produced for this base.
The base is considered a low base, which was designed to be used on an antique wood or coal cooking stove with an open cooking hole (meaning a circular cooking plate removed). With the base over the open cooking hole, the waffle iron can rotate 360 degrees without lifting the iron.
Overall condition is wonderful.

Marked: Iron – American Griswold #8,
Measures: Iron 16” at handle, 7 ¾” diameter. Base 1 ½” tall, 10” diameter at bottom. It weighs 9 pounds.
Condition: Very good, no cracks or chips, should be seasoned before using. Base has the original enamel finish (paint) with finish loss in areas.
