Antique 1920s Arcade Crystal #4 Coffee Grinder
This is the Arcade Crystal number 4 coffee bean grinder. Made by the Arcade Manufacturing Company of Freeport, Illinois. It is made of cast iron with a glass hopper and catch-cup; these would have been found hanging on the wall of your kitchen between 1900 and the 1930s.
Arcade made coffee grinders from 1885 till the Depression of the 1930s. The #4 grinder was introduced in the early 1900s and was offered until the late 1920s. The #4 is one of the most desirable grinders Arcade produced, with its 12-sided Polygon or Dodecahedron shaded hopper and cast-iron grinder housing.
The grinder is all original, minus the catch-cup, with original paint and original instructions (very rare).
It is fully adjustable, so you can get the perfect grind for that perfect cup of coffee. We have cleaned this grinder inside and out; it works magnificently. It has a couple of wonderful bubbles in the glass hopper, commonly found in antique glass.
Wall mounting screws are not included with the purchase.

Arcade grinders are very well made and easy to use, which is the reason they are so sought after. This one is over 100 years old and will easily last a hundred more years. The original catch cup, as usual, was broken a long time ago and replaced with a jelly jar. The glass bean hopper unscrews from the grinder for easy cleaning. Earlier models before 1910 had a fixed bean hopper, which made cleaning difficult.

Measures, 19” tall, 5¾” wide at mounting bracket. Protrudes off the wall 8½”.
Condition: wonderful with a couple of tiny flea bite chips on the hopper rim. Instructions torn as shown.
