Auto-Lite Carbide Miner’s Brass Lantern, Mining Artifact.
This is a wonderful Auto-Lite carbide mining headlamp made by the Universal Lamp Co. of Chicago, IL. The Lantern is in good, clean condition with all the interior parts intact.
The heyday of this type of light was from the turn of the century to the 1950s.
These were used in the coal mines for years; they are designed to hang on the front of a miner’s hat.
Circa, 1950s
Marked, Auto Lite, Made in USA
Measures, 4” tall, reflector is 2 ½” diameter.
Condition: Clean, reflector has a couple of dings, and the top has a dent by the water reservoir cap, missing sparker on reflector. Needs a good polishing.
